Weekly Takes - Monday, September 15th Edition

  1. I love the Blue Jays’ decision to call-up Trey Yesavage.

He is one of their best pitchers. They are trying to win the World Series.

Seems like a no-brainer to me.

  1. The Steelers loss to the Seahawks on Sunday was one of their worst losses in years, purely because of what it represents.

A defensive head coach, with the league’s highest-paid defence, has had 30+ points dropped on them in back-to-back weeks to open up the season. Their star pass rusher does not have a sack in his last six games. Arthur Smith went from calling his best game as the Steelers’ offensive coordinator to one of his worst.

Just ugly.

  1. The Bengals are obviously cooked without Joe Burrow, whose 2-0 start could not have been less impressive to begin with.

This is why you do not waste the prime years of your franchise quarterback the way the Bengals did last year. You do not know how many chances you will get.

  1. It is tough to imagine a worse start to the season than what the Bears have endured.

Caleb Williams, both on and off the field, sure looks to lack too many traits needed to be a franchise quarterback. And Dan Campbell took Ben Johnson to school after having to hear all offseason how the Lions are going to be worse off for not having Johnson on their staff any longer.

  1. The Chiefs, at 0-2, are obviously in trouble when it comes to winning their division, but it goes beyond that. Their offence is simply not good enough to compete with the Bills or Ravens in the AFC.

I understand Rasheed Rice is suspended and Xaiver Worthy is hurt, but even then… there are not enough weapons.

More so when Patrick Mahomes is no longer Patrick Mahomes. He is not the clear-cut best quarterback in the NFL anymore.
