Weekly Takes - Monday, September 14th Edition
I would not be concerned if I were the Rams. Not as it relates to their loss to the 49ers, anyway.
They lost in Australia to a good team and elite head coach. Call it a wash.
The bigger concern is losing Myles Garrett for multiple weeks. Aaron Donald better be ready to go, otherwise LA could be chasing in football’s toughest division.
I would be concerned if I were the Patriots.
They had a great offseason to help negate expected regression due to some luck and an easy schedule a season ago, but losing AJ Brown for multiple weeks is a disaster.
New England’s weapons are… not good.
Never mind how exciting Bears-Panthers was.
The biggest takeaway for me is Caleb Williams came into the season with some MVP talk and Bryce Young came in with some breakout talk.
So far, so good for both.
The Ravens may be in their best form yet with Lamar Jackson, but that does not take away how disappointing the loss was for the Colts.
At home, with that good of a roster, and that is your showing against an elite opponent? Yikes.
Saints-Lions left a lot for me to digest.
One, the hype around the Saints is legit.
Two, while I had Detroit making the playoffs, they have a legit problem with their secondary. They should be all in on trading for Joey Porter.
The Packers came into the season with little no to hype and they showed why on Sunday.
Without Micah Parsons, they have no identity. Matt Lafleur is on the clock.
A team that came into the season with hype was the Chargers, making their loss to the Cardinals easily the worst loss on Sunday.
No, I do not think Arizona is as bad as Cleveland or Miami, but they are quite clearly the worst team in the NFC. To not dummy them at home is a brutal look for Justin Herbert and ‘co.
